Welcome

Desert Amplifier Repair began in 2006 as a hobby bench with the intent of servicing my personal musical equipment and amplifiers that were collected through years of playing, as well as owning a recording studio in Washington. It was during this time that I honed my repair skills by reading up on as much theory as possible and applying that science firsthand to my vast collection of (at the time) broken musical equipment.

With a background in car audio, fundamental system design, architecture, and an ear for music as to how things should sound, it came naturally. Soon, I was being asked by friends to also service their equipment. By word of mouth this organically grew and friends soon became friends of friends. Friends of friends soon became strangers coming to me from a word of mouth referral.

Following the collapse of California’s economy, amplifier repair soon became secondary to most people, and at the same time I was laid off by my full-time employer. With the job market bleak, I left California for several years to supervise the audio department for Oklahoma City’s Civic Center Music Hall.

Upon returning to California, I was met with a large demand for amplifier repair. At the time, my entire workshop was packed in boxes so I was fixing amps on my dining room table. Once again, word spread like wildfire and I was soon unpacking the shop and building a new bench.

With the shop rebuilt and the equipment tested and calibrated, Desert Amplifier Repair was born and ready to tackle almost anything. I truly take pride in fixing the root cause of the problem – I don’t believe in the band-aid fix that gets you out the door and has you coming back in the shop the following week. However, if for any reason something does go wrong after leaving the shop, I honor all repairs and modifications with a 30-day warranty.

Please take a moment to check out my Facebook page and the projects page here at desertamplifierrepair.com. There you’ll find continuously updated photos and video of things that come across the bench. You never know what piece of history or cool electronic you may see! And, as always, feel free to like, comment, and ask questions – you can contact me at any time.

Thank you,

Mark
