FENDER 1973 SILVERFACE DELUXE REVERB
This 40+ year old example of the Silverface era of CBS Fender came into the shop with a reverb and vibrato issue. After being gone through for possibly the first time since the amplifier left the Fender factory, it was time for a full electrolytic capacitor replacement, general service, some tubes replacement as well as some other components. A full list of the service is detailed below:
SERVICES PERFORMED:
Replacement Preamp Tubes in V2,V3,V5, and V6 – 12AX7/12AT7
Replacement power tubes: Matched set of Fender/Groove Tubes 6V6GT
New electrolytic capacitors (“cap job”) throughout entire amplifier
Replaced mains fuse holder
Tensioned and cleaned jacks, sockets and connectors
Cleaned/lubricated potentiometers
Repaired vibrato circuit
Repaired reverb circuit – new tank and fixed cables
Re-wired power cord for correct polarity and removed OEM cap from ground (“death cap”)
